    CRS SERVICES - OPTITHERMS    

OptiTherm™ is complete packaged high-tech service for removing rust, scale and
deposits. Over time, these tend to collect in the jacket space and half-pipe coils of
industrial equipment, slowing down heat exchange processes.
It can be used with any industrial appliance, but is particularly useful for glass-
lined reactors.  

 

    OPTITHERM™ IS AN INTEGRAL SERVICE

 

OptiTherm™ is an integral service because the user does not need to do anything.
A team of experts takes charge of one or more pieces of equipment and hands
them back perfectly clean.

 

    OPTITHERM™  DO IT YOURSELF

The OptiTherm™ service also includes the presence of a CRS staff member,
though only during the first and last stages of the service. This has been made
possible because the washing equipment using all the controls and automation
necessary to reduce manual intervention to an absolute minimum.
The cleaning equipment is delivered already pre-set for the intended service.



    OPTITHERM™ THE BENEFITS

 

Numerous experiments confirm an immediate and noticeable increase in
productivity after using OptiTherm™. The cleaning cost is amortized quickly,
thanks to faster production cycles and a saving of the energy needed for heat
exchange.
In many cases, greater control over the heat exchange has improved the quality of
the final product. In all cases, the life time of the equipment has been lengthened
and the cost of shut downs and maintenance operations has been reduced.  


The main phases of the OptiTherm process:

 

  • Preliminary inspection of the state of the jacket space with an endoscope
  • Taking a sample of the deposit and analysing it
  • dentification of the type of operation to use, cost estimate and scheduling
  • Sending out the washing products and cleaning equipment
  • Pre-washing with water to remove scale flakes and sludge deposited on the bottom
  • Washing with Ferroquest solution, monitoring the operation through programmed chemical analyses
  • Return of the cleaned equipment along with a certificate of the results obtained.

 

    OPTITHERM- FERROQUEST TECHNOLOGY


OptiTherm™ is the product of the experience and collaboration between CRS and
BetzDearborn, a division of Hercules Inc,. the world's leading supplier of chemical
water treatment programmes.
 
OptiTherm™ uses Ferroquest technology, which consists of a wide range of
specific formulations for removing different kinds of scale, such as, for example,
calcium or magnesium salts amongst others, iron oxide, carbon residue, etc.
The most appropriate formulation is identified for each individual application,
according to the type of deposit and the metallurgy of the system.

Optitherm™ offers a large number of significant advantages compared to more
traditional methods using inhibited acid.
In the specific case of glass-lined equipment, a pH neutral wash formulation has
been created so as to eliminate the likelihood of acid etching and the consequent
formation of hydrogen and blistering of the glass-lining.
Optitherm™ does not corrode or damage the equipment in any way. It does not
stop at just lifting off and dissolving the deposits that need to be removed. 

After washing, the jacket surfaces are not only perfectly clean, but are also
protected by a layer of passivation.
The products used are completely inert and no particular precautions need to be
taken during their handling or use during the whole washing cycle. The final slurry
can be eliminated as a simple watery solution.
