ROTARY DRYERS RDO

   GLASS-LINED DRYERS

This series comprises a standard range of double-cone rotary dryers, of glass-lined steel,
constructed in 7 sizes, from 160 to 6300 litres nominal capacity.
Special sizes up to 12500 l. can be supplied.
The double-cone construction, characteristic of these dryers, makes possible the mixing and
drying, of solid products, as well as their final discharge for packing, with numerous
advantages compared with other, conventional, equipment:

  • Considerable reduction of working times due to a thorough and fast mixing of the product
(that is subjected to a real circulatory motion inside the unit) and the constant renewal of the
surfaces of contact for heat transfer and of evaporation.
  • Smooth, silent running because of the limited movement of the centre of gravity of the
    rotating mass.
  • Fast gravity- loading and discharge. Complete discharge is assured by the absence of
corners and dead zones and can be direct into containers for shipment.

In addition, the glass-lining provides the following advantages:

  • Protection of the product, from impurities, contamination and changes, due to the extremely
smooth inert surfaces of the vessel. Hence particularly costly and delicate substances like pharmaceuticals, catalysts, dyes and pigments, resin etc. can be mixed and dried without
    problems.
  • The elimination of incrustation and deposits on the walls of the vessel. In this way heat
transfer and the quality of the end product are improved.
  • The possibility of changing the type of product frequently and almost without limitation,
because of the ease and speed of cleaning and degassification and the resistance to corrosion
    by virtually any substance.

   CONSTRUCTIONAL FEATURES

Double-cone dryer made up of two truncated cones welded at the larger diameters to a short
central cylindrical shell.
A charging nozzle is located at the top of the unit, and a discharge nozzle at the bottom. Each
of these is equipped with a clamped cover and protection ring.
Gaskets are of the PTFE envelope type with a stainless steel insert.
The heat necessary for drying is provided for by an external jacket.
